R-142b is a "hydrochlorofluorocarbon" mainly used as a refrigerant in heat pump applications.
R-142b is a substitute for the R-114 "chlorofluorocarbon" (CFC) intended for some applications.
Also used in blend R-142b/R-22 as a replacement for R-12.
